WHAT IS THAI COMBINATION MASSAGE?

 

An extended version of Table Thai. This type of massage is adapted to suit Westerners preference of oil massage and to facilitate people with limited range of movements, whilst maintaining some of that yoga stretches from Table Thai massage. Additionally, this adaptation of Thai Massage is more appropriate for practitioners who have knee or back pain or are unable to work on the floor. Body mechanics are generally easier to incorporate on the table compared to the floor, and blends easily with your current massage therapy practice.

 

HOW IS THE TECHNIQUE PERFORMED?

 

Thai Combination massage is performed on a massage table using mediums such ash oils, massage wax/candles or creams. Combining yoga like stretches with gliding and flowing strokes used in Swedish massage and free-hands techniques of Deep tissue massage. it moves you through a series of yoga-like stretches and movements while it opens the body’s fascial lines through a combination of soft-tissue manipulation, deep tissue techniques, acupressure, rhythmic compression and stretching. It includes both deep muscular and energetic work along with fluid movement.

 

BENEFITS OF THAI COMBINATION MASSAGE:

 

Thai combination is holistic therapy yet can focus on a specific problem, such as chronic muscle pain, injury rehabilitation. Promotes the circulation of both blood and lymph using gentle stretches. These yoga- like stretches increase blood circulation, which fills the body’s tissues with oxygen. This helps promote cell growth and heart health.

 

The aim of the treatment is to help the body to find balance and promote wellness via a combination of acupressure, asanas, stretching, palming, thumbing, tractions (steadily pulling limbs to loosen muscles and connective tissues), and gentle twisting.

 

o Helps to improve posture, breathing and flexibility.

o Breaks down and reduces adhesions

o Reduces stress on other muscle groups which may be overcompensating loosens the fascia of the muscle

o Creates space between the vertebrae, helping to improve postural alignment and balance to the nervous system.

o Encourages the release of synovial fluid, which lubricates the joints and enhances joint mobility.

o Assists lymph flow, which boosts the immune system.

o Aids the circulatory system by distributing blood, oxygen and nutrients throughout the body.

o Alleviates common painful conditions, such as back pain, sciatica, shoulder pain and headaches.

o Lowers stress, boosts energy.

Pre-requisite Anatomy & Physiology, and Full Body Massage (ITEC, VTCT, BTEC, CIDESCO and CIBTAC or a similar qualification).

 

Minimum age for enrolment is 18.

  • 2 DAYS TRAINING:  Advanced table techniques including both oil and dry massage, trigger points, manipulations, stretching, tractions, and gentle twisting.
  • 1 DAY TRAINING: EXISTING SHEN MANTRA TYM STUDENTS ONLY                                                         that wish to add more advanced fusion techniques such as passive stretches or side work.
